How a student can balance a business and school.

At first glance Senior Anthony Wickline might not seem like a straight 'A' student, but with running a business and trying to keep track

Anthony (left) and Nick Wickline (right) make time for their business on top of a slew of IB classes.

of his grades, he is just that. Anthony has had good grades since elementary.

"My mom has been making me work hard in school since four or five and I have always learned fast," said Wickline.

Wickline doesn't just work hard in school; he also devotes a critical amount of time to extracurricular activities. He has been participating in jujutsu, mixed martial arts, extreme martial arts, and taekwondo.

"My mom thought it'd be good for me to do martial arts so I've been doing it since I was about ten." Wickline said.

Wickline is not only devoted to martial arts, he is also a vocalist for the local band 'Above the Gallows'. They're even going to begin recording soon at a studio.

As well as keeping good grades, taking taekwondo and other martial arts, and being in a band, Anthony also runs his own business as an electrical engineer/technician and programmer.

"It's called Wickline Panels. I started it when my grandpa's friend tutored me on it. My brother Nick helps also." Wickline said.

The business specializes in electrical engineering and it also assists in pumping sewage and requires control of the pump.

One would think Wickline would be busy enough with friends and all the other activities to afford taking time in anything else, but he also has a four-year scholarship thanks to QuestBridge to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study particle physics. Wickline is just one example of the hard-working and busy students at Lee's Summit High School.
